One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.
On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"
"It was great, Dad."
"Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked.
"Oh yeah," said the son.
"So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?" asked the father.
The son answered: "I saw that we he one dog and they had four. We he a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they he a creek that has no end. We he imported lanterns in our garden and they he the stars at night.
Our patio reaches to the front yard and they he the whole horizon. We he a small piece of land to live on and they he fields that go beyond our sight. We he servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We he walls around our property to protect us, they he friends to protect them."
The boy's father was speechless. Then his son added, "Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are."
Isn't perspective a wonderful thing? Makes you wonder what would hen if we all ge thanks for everything we he, instead of worrying about what we don't he.
Many of you fail to seek your purpose in life and you should. You dream and then follow it up with a list of all the reasons why the dream is unachievable. You fill your life with excuses and "I can't." Many great companies were conceived from a dream, nurtured in a garage or basement and grew to be traded on the New York Stock Exchange. Why not you? Why not your dream? The only true limits you experience in life are those you create or those you allow others to impose upon you. If you can dream it, you can do it!
Dreaming is the easy part. Acting on the dream is harder. Recognize that a dream is a journey. On the simplest level, it takes commitment, time, desire, and courage. But rarely is something great easily realized. Dreaming is recognizing and embracing the potential for greatness and seeking it in all areas of your life. Believe in your dreams and your ability to accomplish them. Keep your dreams in front of you. I'm here to challange you to reach for your dream. Do not be afraid to dream. Never forget, if you can dream it, you can do it!
I he a Rewards Card for Showcase Cinema that allows me to earn rewards points with each purchase that I make at the theatre and periodically provides me with a free popcorn, soda or movie ticket coupon. I had recently accumulated enough rewards points to oain a coupon for a free popcorn.
Standing in the movie theatre ticket line on Saturday, I noticed just ahead of me, a father with his 2 small boys also waiting to buy their tickets for the Matinee Movie. Knowing that movies can be quite expensive for families nowadays, I ted the Dad on the shoulder and asked, ?I he a coupon for free popcorn and don?t plan to use it, would you like it for one of your boys He said, ?Yeah, sure. That?s great! Thanks!? and took the coupon.
A few minutes later, after they had purchased their tickets, one of his small sons who eared to be about 9 or 10 years old, walked up to me and silently held out a shiny penny to show me. I took it and said, ?Wow that?s cool! It?s really shiny!? He quietly replied, ?It?s a 2011?. As I handed it back to him. He pushed the penny towards me once again and quietly said, ?You can keep it?. Showing my gratitude, I replied, ?Wow that?s awesome, thank you very much? and asked, ?Where did you get it!? and he said quite softly, ?I found it in my Dad?s car?. I said, ?Oh that?s cool, thanks! He smiled, quietly turned and walked back to his Dad who returned my smile with a knowing smile of his own. It?s the small special moments like that that can make an ordinary day, special.

9Man's youth is a wonderful thing: it is so full of anguish and of magic and he never comes to know it as it is, until it has gone from him forever. It is the thing he cannot bear to lose, it is the thing whose passing he watches with infinite sorrow and regret, it is the thing whose loss with a sad and secret joy, the thing he would never willingly relive again, could it be restored to him by any magic.
10Why is this? The reason is that the strange and bitter miracle of life is nowhere else so evident as in our youth. And what is the essence of that strange and bitter miracle of life which we feel so poignant , so unutterable, with such a bitter pain and joy, when we are young? It is this: that being rich, we are so poor; that being mighty, we can yet he nothing; that seeing, breathig, smelling, tasting all around us the impossible wealth and glory of this earth, feeling with an intolerable certitude that the whole structure of the enchanted life – the most fortunate, wealthy, good, and hy life that any man has ever known – is ours – is ours at once, immediately and forever, the moment that we choose to take a step, or stretch a hand, or say a word—— we yet know that we can really keep, hold, take, and possess forever—— nothing. All passes; nothing lasts: the moment that we put our hand upon it , it melts away like smoke, is gone forever, and the snake is eating at our heart again; we see then what we are and what our lives must come to.

If you are feeling that life just cannot be any worse for you, it can be challenging to think positive thoughts. When we are stressed, depressed, upset, or otherwise in a negative state of mind because we perceive that "bad things" keep hening to us, it is important to shift those negative thoughts to something positive. If we don't, we will only attract more "bad things."
It is often very hard to think positive when so many things are negative, but I can assure you that someone, somewhere is worse off than you. We can choose to think differently by beginning with the smallest of steps.
If you start with one small, positive thing and repeat it during the course of your day, you will begin to move into a more positive situation: positive thoughts, feelings, opportunities and people will start showing up in your life. With practice, you will find that over time, you will change your outlook and choose to be hy, irregardless of the events around you.
Here are a few examples for you to practice. Say them out loud and with feeling!
1. Begin and end each day with a "Thank you for this wonderful, glorious day!"
2. When you see the gas prices hiking, say "I am so glad that I am blessed to he a vehicle in which to get around."
3. When you are late for work, say "I am so hy and grateful for my job as I know that many don't he one."
4. If you are hing health problems, be grateful for what does work: "I really do reciate my eyes that see, my ears that hear, my mouth that tastes, my legs that walk, my arms that lift, my hands that write, my mind that thinks, my knees that bend and my tongue that talks." The possibilities here are endless: insert what does work for you and feel good about it!
5. Write down what you're grateful for each day. In moments when you're feeling really down, read what you wrote previously. This will help uplift your spirits. If you practice this regularly, you will find that your list will get longer and longer.
The key is to move yourself into a positive thought and keep it there long enough to make it a moment of blissful peace. The more you practice, the hier you'll be.
2Home on the Way
People need homes: children assume their parents' place as home; boarders call school "home" on weekdays; married couples work together to build new homes; and trelers ? he no place to call "home", at least for a few nights.
So how about people who he to trel for extended periods of time? Don?t they he the right to a home? Of course they do.
Some regular trelers take their own belongings: like bed sheets, pillowcases and family photos to make them feel like home no matter where they are; some stay for long periods in the same hotel and as a result become very familiar with service and attendants; others may simply put some flowers by the hotel window to make things more homely. Furthermore, driving a camping car during one?s trels and sleeping in the vehicle at night is just like home -- only mobile!
And how about maintaining relationships while in transit? Some keep contact with their friends via internet; some send letters and postcards, or even photos; others may just call and say hi, just to let their friends know that they're still alive and well. People find ways to keep in touch. Making friends on the way helps trelers feel more or less at home. Backpackers in youth hostels may become very good friends, even closer than siblings.
Nowadays, fewer people are working in their local towns, so how do they develop a sense of belonging? Whenever we step out of our local boundaries, there is always another "home" waiting to be found. Wherever we are, with just a little bit of effort and imagination, we can make the place we stay "home".
3According to legend, a young man while roaming the desert came across a spring of delicious crystal-clear water. The water was so sweet, he filled his leather can so he could bring some back to a tribal elder who had been his teacher.
After a four-day journey he presented the water to the old man who took a deep drink, smiled warmly and thanked his student lishly for the sweet water. The young man returned to his village with a hy heart.
Later, the teacher let another student taste the water. He spat it out, saying it was awful. It arently had become stale because of the old leather container.
The student challenged his teacher: "Master, the water was foul. Why did you pretend to like it?"
The teacher replied, "You only tasted the water. I tasted the gift. The water was simply the container for an act of loving-kindness and nothing could be sweeter."
I think we understand this lesson best when we receive innocent gifts of love from young children. Whether it's a ceramic tray or a macaroni bracelet, the natural and proper response is reciation and expressed thankfulness because we love the idea within the gift.
Gratitude doesn't always come naturally. Unfortunately, most children and many adults value only the thing given rather than the feeling embodied in it. We should remind ourselves and teach our children about the beauty and purity of feelings and expressions of gratitude. After all, gifts from the heart are really gifts of the heart.

And that is the reason why, when youth is gone, every man will look back upon that period of his life with infinite sorrow and regret. It is the bitter sorrow and regret of a man who knows that once he had a great talent and wasted it , of a man who knows that once he had a great treasure and got nothing from it , of a man who knows that he had strength enough for everything and never used it.

As it was extremely narrow, the man was unable to move, but the firemen were eventually able to free him by cutting a huge hole in the wall. The sorry-looking, blackened figure that emerged, at once admitted that he had tried to break into the shop during the night but had got stuck in the chimney. He had been there for nearly ten hours. Justice had been done even before the man was handed over to the police.
If the past has taught us anything,it is that every cause brings effect -- every actionhas a consequence. This thought,in my opinion,is the moral foundation of the universe; it lies equally in this e ething simple can completely reshape your life. It's just like the Butterfly Effect and you never knopetition the human heart.
Ah, hoence, interest in attainment, and regard for posterity.
We do not choose to be born. We do not choose our parents. We do not choose our historical epoch, the country of our birth, or the immediate circumstances of our upbringing. We do not, most of us, choose to die; nor do we choose the time or conditions of our death. But within all this realm of choicelessness, we do choose how we shall live: courageously or in cowardice, honorably or dishonorably, with purpose or in drift. We decide what is important and what is trivial in life. We decide that what makes us significant is either what we do or what we refuse to do. But no matter how indifferent the universe may be to our choices and decisions, these choices and decisions are ours to make. We decide. We choose. And as we decide and choose, so are our lives formed. In the end, forming our own destiny is what ambition is about.

A life of slothful ease, a life of that peace which springs merely from lack either of desire or of power to strive after great things, is as little worthy of a nation as an individual.
We do not admire the man of timid peace. We admire the man who embodies victorious efforts,
the man who never wrongs his neighbor, who is prompt to help a friend, but who has those virile qualities necessary to win in the stern strife of actual life. It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to he tried to succeed. In this life we get nothing se by effort. Freedom from effort in the present merely meansthat there has been effort stored up in the past. A man can be freed from the necessity of work only by the fact that he or his fathers before him he worked to good purpose. If the freedom thus purchased is used aright, and the man still does actual work, though of a different kind, whether as a writer or a general, whether in the field of politics or in the field of exploration and adventure,
he shows he deserves his good fortune.
But if he treats this period of freedom from the need of actual labor as a period, not of preparation, butof mere enjoyment, even though perhaps not of vicious enjoyment, he shows that he is simply a cumberer on the earth?s surface; and he surely unfits himself to hold his own place with his fellows, if the need to do so should again arise. A mere life of ease is not in the end a very satisfactory life, and, above all, it is a life which ultimately unfits those who follow it for serious work in the world.
As it is with the individual, so it is with the nation. It is a base untruth to say that hy is the nation that has no history. Thrice hy is the nation that has a glorious history. Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twillight that knows neither victory nor defeat.
Perhaps the best cure for the fear of death is to reflect that life has a beginning as well as anend. There was a time when we were not: this gives me no concern-why then should it troubleus that a time will come when we shall cease to be? I he no wish to he been alive ahundred years ago, or in the reign of Queen Anne. Why should I regret and lay it so much toheart that I shall not be alive a hundred years hence, in the reign of I cannot tell whom?
To die is only to be as we were born; yet no one feels any remorse, or regret, or repugnance,in contemplating this last idea. It is rather a relief and disburdening of the mind; it seems tohe been a holiday time with us then; we were not called to ear upon the stage of life, towear robes or tatters, to laugh or cry, be hooted or lauded; we had lain perdu all this while, snug out of harm?s way; and had slept out our thousands of centuries without wanting to bewaked up; at peace and free from care, in a long nonage, in a sleep deeper and calmer than thatof infancy, wred in the softest and finest dust. And the worst that we dread is, after ashort fretful, feverish being, after vain hopes, and idle fears, to sink to final repose again, and forget the troubled dream of life!
What then is the work of life? What the business of great men, that pass the stage of theworld in seeming triumph as these men we call heroes he done? Is it to grow great in themouth of fame and take up so many pages in history? Alas! That is no more than making a talefor the reading of posterity till it turns into fable and romance. Is it to furnish subjects to thepoets, and live in their immortal rhymes as they call them? That is, in short, no more than to behereafter turned into ballad and song and be sung by old women to quiet children, or at thecorner of the street to gather crowds in aid of the pickpocket and the poor. Or is theirbusiness rather to add virtue and piety to their glory, which alone will pass them into eternityand make them truly immortal? What is glory without virture? A great man without religion isno more than a great beast without a soul. What is honour without merit? And what can becalled true merit but that which makes a person bea good man as well as a great man?

Real men don't cry. We just get something in our eye
A short walk from my house in Hampshire, on a hill overlooking the heathland, is a plaque marking the spot where Richard Pryce Jones deliberately crashed his Halifax bomber during the war. He could he parachuted to safety, but that would he meant crashing into the village. The epitaph reads: "He died that others might live."
It never fails to move me. Not to tears, you understand. That would be disrespectful. But I do usually manage a lump in the throat and that film of moisture over the eyes that men he in their emotional armoury. Gordon Brown demonstrated the non-crying cry beautifully when he made his farewell speech on the steps of Number 10. That catch in the throat. The determination not to weep in public. At that moment, if at no other, he had nobility.
Not everyone can carry it off. I don't think Paul Gascoigne ever quite got the hang of it, for example. But I like to think I he it down to an art, my technique honed from years of watching The Railway Children, Sleepless in Seattle and that scene in Dumbo when the mother elephant is locked away. "Daddy!" my sons will say, pointing the accusing finger. "You're crying!"
"Me? Over Dumbo? Ha ha ha. No, boys, what I am doing is man-crying, a sort of non-crying cry. I'll teach you it one day. Very useful."
They are too young to reciate the nuance yet, but when they are older I will explain that open sog is associated with being female, and so inropriate for men. The Charlie Chaplin analogy might be useful here. He once said that the way to act drunk is to imagine yourself a drunk man trying to act sober. The same is true when a man learns the non-crying cry. To be convincing, you must look as if you are trying to oid tears.
In this respect, it is important for a young man to reciate the difference between male tears and female. I remember once asking the actress Emilia Fox if she could cry at will, right there and then, over lunch. To my astonishment, she could ? from a standing start. Fat tears rolling down her cheeks. When she had finished, she resumed her smiling countenance.
Those are female tears, and the reason you never hear anyone say: "It's enough to make a grown woman cry." That expression only works when it refers to "grown men" and though that may seem tautological, the "grown" is justified. Not all men are grown. The emotionally incontinent exhibitionists who cry when they are kicked off talent shows such as The X Factor are not grown men, for example. Men he to be careful what they cry at, because some subjects are more worthy of tears than others. Grief, obviously. But not self-pity. And rarely should a man cry in pain. And never at the death of a princess he didn't know. Those are the rules.
I suspect my colleague Matt Pritchett might be with me on this. One of his cartoons this past week showed a father next to a television tuned to the World Cup, explaining to his children that "at some point in the next few weeks, you are going to see me cry". And the day after the last survivor of the Great Escape died, he did a cartoon showing a grestone with a mound of tunnelled earth trailing away from it. I seemed to he something in my eye when I saw that, and I expect he had the same something in his eye when he drew it.
If I Had My Life to Live Over/如果我能再活一次
I would he gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.
I would he burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.

I would he eaten the popcorn in the ?good? living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.
I would never he insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.
I would he cried and laughed less while watching television?and more while watching life.
I would never he bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.
But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute?look at it and really see it ? live it ? and never give it back.
Don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more money, or who's doing what. Instead, let's cherish the relationships we he with those who do love us. Let's think about what God has blessed us with, and what we are doing each day to promote ourselves mentally, physically, emotionally.
My skills, my mind, my heart, and my body will stagnate, rot, and die lest I put them to good use. I he unlimited potential. Only a small portion of my brain do I employ; only a paltry amount of my muscles do I flex. A hundredfold or more can I increase my accomplishments of yesterday and this I will do, beginning today.
Nevermore will I be satisfied with yesterday's accomplishments nor will I indulge, anymore, in self-praise for deeds which in reality are too small to even acknowledge. I can accomplish far more than I he, and I will, for why should the miracle which produced me end with my birth? Why can I not extend that miracle to my deeds of today?
And I am not on this earth by chance. I am here for a purpose and that purpose is to grow into a mountain, not to shrink to a grain of sand. Henceforth will I ly all my efforts to become the highest mountain of all and I will strain my potential until it cries for mercy.
I he been given eyes to see and a mind to think and now I know a great secret of life for I perceive, at last, that all my problems, discouragements, heartaches are, in truth, great opportunities in disguise. I will no longer be fooled by the garments they wear for mine eyes are open. I will look beyond the cloth and I will not be deceived.

A farmer took on firewood by tramping over mountains and through rines every day, In order to get a day's rations and let his son goes to school with the remaining money.
When his son came back in summer vacation, his father let him pick firewood and sell it in order to cultivate his hardship spirit. His son felt reluctant that take on firewood by tramping over mountains and through rines, so he ge up finally. The father can't be helped, so he sighed and let his son rest at the side. He still took on firewood day by day.
There's many a slip between the cup and the lip. The father was ill and he cannot get up. There was no ine in home, so his son decided to provoke the burden of life. The sun had not yet risen, while the son learned his father cut firewood and sell it at the bazaar. Nevertheless, he was not a bit tired.
“Son, don’t tired out!” the father looked at his son busy figure felt pitying and loving and said to him. The son stopped the work and said to his father:“It is strange that I feel tired when you asked me to do, however, I fell the burden more and more light even though I pick the more hey ”
The father nodded his head rovingly and said to his son:” your body's endurance is training out and It is important of your mature.”
This story tells us: to think of ourselves as stronger in life and bear the burden of life willingly.
My tea is gone cold I’m wondering why i got out of bad at all. The morning rain clouds up my window and i can’t see at all. And even if I could it’ll all be gray, but your picture on my wall, it remains me that is not so bad.
I’m sure that there are many people in this world are very easily affected by weather or surrounding environments. This kind of people is every emotional, they maybe meet occasionally ineffable sadness, even cannot tell a reason.
I think of a few solutions to this problem. First of all, when you find out that you are not in the mood to do anything but feeling sad, the first thing you he to do is keep yourself busy.Listening a cheerful song would be helpful, at the same time, find something else to do, like cleaning the house, go out for a jogging. Just put yourself in a cheerful and bright environment, nurture some flowers in your room, or keep a pet, the vibrant plants or animal is always a key to open a hy door.
Second, think in a positive way. Many people are tending to think the problem in a bad way, but in fact, things are not always as bad as they think. It is been proved that if people think in the bad side, they are unlikely find the way to solute the problem and feel worse. We should see the bright side while we are in the bad situation, which make us ensure everything is possible, and everything will get better. Then our mood will not be effected by the predicament。
In a world, to be a positive person is not that difficult, since we can master our mind, we should choose a positive over passive. Then life will be better.

"Why did you take all this time to come? Don't you know that my son's life is in danger? Don't you he any sense of responsibility?"
The doctor smiled & said:
"I am sorry, I wasn't in the hospital & I came as fast as I could after receiving the call...... And now, I wish you'd calm down so that I can do my work"

The doctor smiled again & replied: "I will say what Job said in the Holy Book "From dust we came & to dust we return, blessed be the name of God". Doctors cannot prolong lives.
The surgery took some hours after which the doctor went out hy,"Thank goodness!, your son is sed!" And without waiting for the father's reply he carried on his way running. "If you he any question, ask the nurse!!"
"Why is he so arrogant? He couldn't wait some minutes so that I ask about my son's state" Commented the father when seeing the nurse minutes after the doctor left.
The nurse answered, tears coming down her face: "His son died yesterday in a road accident, he was in the burial when we called him for your son's surgery. And now that he sed your son's life, he left running to finish his son's burial."

I used to believe courtesy was a thing of the past. Very seldom he I encountered a courteous human being in this modern era of the so called Generation X.
Recently, I had to change my thinking, when I came face to face with just such a human being. I had gone to a hening coffee place, with two of my grown up daughters. The place was crowded with the usual loud crowd and we had to climb a steep flight of stairs in order to find an empty table. After enjoying coffee and snacks, we were at the steep descent down the stairs, where the narrow space made climbing down only possible in a single file, with hardly any space for another person to either climb up or come down.
Just as I was in the middle of my descent, a gentleman entered the main entrance of the restaurant which was right in front of the staircase. I was sure I would be pushed roughly by this man who will want to go up in a hurry. I kept coming down as fast as I could, holding on to the bannister, in lieu of my advanced years. My agile daughters were already down, looking up at me worriedly, hoping I would reach them before the stranger started up the stairs, knowing I was a nervous sort.
Nearly reaching them, I noticed the man still standing near the door. I reached my daughters and passed the stranger at the entrance door which he kept holding open. I looked back thinking he was still at the door, deciding whether to go in or find another less crowded place. I saw him going up the stairs, two at a time. I told my daughters about it and all three of us felt bad that we did not even thank the courteous gentleman who was actually holding the door open for us ladies to pass through before going up.
We lauded his chivalry for both, waiting for us to come down before going up himself and also holding the main entrance door open for us to go out. Such well mannered people are hard to find these days, when shoving, jostling and pushing is very common in our advanced but aggressive society. Till date, I remember this gentleman and pray to God to make more human beings like him.
